LASIK (Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis) simply means, "to shape the cornea within using a laser." Lasik can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by reshaping the corneas (outer window of the eye). This enables light rays to focus more precisely on the retina thereby correcting an individual's vision.
