Are you a candidate for contact lenses? Today there are a wide variety of contact lenses, so almost anyone can be fit for a contact lens if they so choose. How will Dr. Sarlitt determine the best contact lens for you? As part of your vision examination, Dr. Sarlitt will do a special contact lens evaluation to assess the general health of your eyes. A Slit lamp is a microscope used to examine the front portion of your eyes and the curvature of you eyes is measured with an instrument known as a Keratometer. By utilizing special dyes with the Slit lamp, Dr. Sarlitt can determine both the quality and quantity of your tears. If the tears are insufficient or the tear chemistry is poor, certain drops and procedures might be used to enhance you chance of becoming a successful contact lens wearer. With this information, in combination with your prescriptive requirements, Dr. Sarlitt will recommend the best lens for your needs. Because the contact lens will sit directly on your eye, proper fit and type of lens will be essential to your ultimate satisfaction.
